Roboy Star of CIIE

The China International Import Expo (CIIE), is the world’s first import-themed national-level expo and a major initiative from China to further open up its domestic market. CIIE 2019 attracted nearly 3,900 companies worldwide, including over 250 Fortune Global 500 companies.

Although Infineon is one of the major players in global semiconductor industry, its public awareness is relatively low in China. With so many big names at the expo and no budget for paid promotion, we created a buzz around Roboy, a 3D-printed humanoid hug robot applying Infineon’s semiconductor solutions.

Roboy went viral on social media with 20M+ impressions, including WeChat, Weibo, and video sharing Apps such as Tik Tok. It also hit headlines on 60+ TV news, and generated 2700+ newspapers and online coverage.

The campaign generated a total ad value of US$3 million, including more than 20 million impressions on social media. It also resulted in 1300+ business leads, and attracted 20+ booth visits by high-level government officials.
